Why do we need an open/mobile spine? Besides doing cool-looking backbends the thoracic spine is the anchor of the ribs. The ribcage is the anchor of the shoulder blade. The shoulder blade is the anchor of the humerus (upper arm bone). So the thoracic spine is the base we're building our arm movements on which is why it is so important to pay attention to this part of the spine! With these exercises you can open your thoracic spine up and increase your range of motion in your shoulder area too!
Keep on BREATHING while you do all these exercises and hold them for a couple of breaths. Relax into it and find the spots that feel the best.
